Gary Leif started Leif Photography in 1976, after going to the #1 Photography School in the world, Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara California. Gary has owned and operated Leif Photo for 40 years until he was elected Douglas County Commissioner in 2016. Gary has received numerous awards, and his work has been published in national and international publications. Owning and operating a successful business brought him into the world of public service. Gary has served on over 35 different organizations, including Governor Appointments, and was Chairman or President of over half of the organizations he served on. From Fire Boards, to Planning Commission and Economic Development Board, to Chambers, Gary’s involvement was to better the communities that he lives and works in.

In the late 90’s Gary’s goal was to become County Commissioner someday and he achieved that goal in 2016 and donated his time, money and resources (for free) to ready himself for the position. Gary is married to Carol Leif, who has worked by his side to keep the business running and work tirelessly to help him get elected.

Gary believes that Government should operate efficiently and minimally to support the community and businesses that support our communities. Gary has given tens of thousands of dollars in cash and donations for organizations in our community.

In 2016, Gary and Carol sold Leif Photography to Warren & Gail Newcomb. Warren has worked closely with Leif Photography for years and shares the same values of integrity and service to our community as Gary and Carol.

Warren and Gail have owned and operated Newcomb Photography in Grants Pass for more than 20 years, they continue to support schools and various youth organizations with their time and financial support.
